Training & Sales Services
Mackenzie’s foundation in Icelandic Horses was laid and paved by Carrie Lyons Brandt, Hólar University certified instructor and trainer, and Terral Hill, professional competitor and certified young-horse trainer. She went on to continue work under the coaching of Alex Dannenmann, accomplished European competitor, licensed IPZV Trainer B, FEIF certified International Sport Judge and 2017 FEIF Trainer of the Year.
Mackenzie began her professional career as a supporting trainer at Lettleiki Icelandics, LLC, where she eventually became head trainer as she taught clinics, held seminars, competed, trained and directed a riding school program. In 2018 & 2019, she made a name in national competition, placing regularly in finals at professional levels across the US and securing international world rankings. In 2022, Mackenzie worked in Iceland at Árbakki, under the supervision of Hinrik Bragason, Hulda Gustafsdottir and Gústaf Ásgeir Hinriksson.
She has since established Sálmur Icelandic Horses, under the mentorship of Taktur Icelandic Horses, LLC, owned by Carrie Lyons Brandt, who continues to coach Mackenzie’s work, education and business.
Training - $1200 monthly (includes board)
Training approximately 5 days a week, at least 4 times ridden. This approach is used for goals like gait separation, conditioning, competition training & presentation, trail training and breeding evaluations.
For young horse starting, the minimum commitment is two months of training, consisting of 5 training sessions per week, eventually building up to being ridden 4 of those 5 times per week.
I am happy to consult with you about what training approach is best for your horse. Call or text 502-655-1234, or email salmurhorses@gmail.com to get in touch!
Sales - Training Cost + 10% Commission
To ensure your horse is well prepared for potential buyers, enrollment in full training is required.
An advertising timeline will be determined after your horse has been in training for two weeks - this gives time to build an accurate assessment of your horse’s education & training level.
A Sales Commission Agreement will be signed, which identifies the agreed upon commission rate and addresses the agent’s role & owner’s role in the sales process.
